War Toll

War always reunites people for war and creates traitors on its way. Fear rises in people as they fear being labeled as traitors to the country. Living in the state of general ‘Approved’ confinement is the only option they see. Brave souls emerge on the frontline, taking down the lives of strangers in the name of defending the sovereignty of their nation. With every step, they unveil the curtain that hid the horrors of war.

Finally, a point reaches, where every soldier sees nothing but devastation of their fellow comrades in every corner of the battlefield. Turning around makes them realize they are far away from their motherland. Everything they once knew now hides behind the fog. As soldiers realize they are now inside the mist, in the realm of uncertainty, they can no longer see the world as a common human. In mere hours, people were outside of the fog and now breathing the air of the true horrors of the world.

Erasing lives becomes the new normal, as everybody turns a blind eye to the grim reaper by the soldier’s side. The horror and scream left by their footsteps will hunt the land and its future unborn. Every flesh burned in the war, the ashes will create pure hatred in the hearts of many. With enough time, the anger will still be kept alive in the children. When they take their step as an adult, they will leave innocence by the door and march on forward to reclaim what was lost.

Every action they take from that point will be in the name of a vague sense of justice. The people who puppeteer the war will take control over the new puppets, and the same show starts all over again.

A drop of blood becomes an ocean when the soldier finishes his time on the battlefield. But only the soldier will see the carnage he created in the name of justice. Either he accepts he is no longer walking on the earth not as a human but as a walking monster.
